The subject matter in this photograph is the same as the first image in this series and there are similarities and differences between the two photographs. This image is also a study in pure form and would be placed in Barrett’s aesthetically evaluative category. Line is also important in this piece. Unlike the first image the dominant lines are horizontal and continuous and the visual weight of each line is the same. These elements create a calming, stable feeling in the image. The visual surface is gently textured with many short lines connecting the longer horizontal ones which produces a painterly quality. In this image the blue color reinforces the calm feeling produced by the horizontal lines.
